Walking in the Will of God

There are some conclusions and applications we can draw concerning the will of God as we look at the apostle Paul's life and our own:

  1. Paul definitely wanted to do the will of God. He was surrendered to the Lord and His will. He read the Scriptures and obeyed what he knew to do.
  2. The dangers and conflicts that Paul faced were used by God to direct Paul in His will.
  3. The detours were actually God's well-chosen paths to get the message out--the message of truth that leads to a right relationship with God and with man. The detours were also used to minister to Paul in unexpected ways.
  4. The delays were part of God's wise timing in getting the message to more people because they opened added doors of opportunity for him to speak that message.
  5. The difficult and dark circumstances were actually God's opportunities to more clearly reveal the light, the truth about who God is and what He has done to bring grace and salvation through Jesus Christ. Through Paul's life the Lord gave the opportunity for many people to place their faith in Christ and begin their walk with HIm. In the difficult and dark circumstances God made sure the light of truth shone brightly.

What about His will in your life? Are you facing some detours or delays today? Do you have a heart that is seeking God's will for your life? In most cases, the will of God is as clear as the noonday sun, because it is written in the Scriptures. Concerning the areas that aren't as clear, God gives enough light to take the next step in following Him. Paul made it clear that the foundation for a clear knowledge of the will of God is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Upon that foundation we can build a greater knowledge of His will (recommended Scripture reading: Colossians 1:9-12).
