Jan Sheble says: "This is a book I wish I did not have to write. It's a book I wish you did not have to read. But our lives have been altered by the deaths of our husbands. This is nothing that any of us signed up for.? But here we are as widows. Our spirits understand each other, as those around us cannot. Others offer sincere sympathy, but only one who has walked through that valley herself can truly say, I understand.

"We cannot change what has happened. If we truly trust in the Sovereignty of our God, we acknowledge that He indeed knows what is best. We know our God is in control. We are his daughters.

"Nevertheless, we are human. We grieve. We hurt. We have anger. We have fears. We need kindred sisters who understand these feelings. Together, we can work our way through them and face tomorrow."

In this book, Jan shares her own story and the stories of others as she provides helpful insights for widows. Knowing there are still unresolved problems, one can pick and chose those areas that are needful for the moment.? Included are study questions if one wishes to use the book as a group study.? An appendix is included that?s composed of questions with pertinent answers for further reflection.

According to U.S. government statistics there are currently 13.9 million widowed persons in our country. Of that number 11.6 million are women. They are in varying stages of their process of grieving. There has been little written on specifics of how to adjust to the new stage in one's life upon the death of a spouse.
