Abraham became great through faith. "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness"
(Galatians 3:6 KJV). Through Abraham, God wanted to create a nation and a seed that would bless all nations of the world. In Abraham, God wanted to grow a relationship with him characterized by faithful obedience and trust.
With a conscious intention of breaking down the artificial walls of time and prestige, F. B. Meyer introduces us to the real man behind the mystique. In Abraham: The Obedience of Faith, Meyer portrays Abraham as completely human—with the temptations, frailty, and failures common to all of us.
In biographical style, Meyer sketches Abraham's portrait with such detail, that it lives before us, showing the same hopes and fears, golden hours and hours of depression, that are familiar to everyone. As you enter the world and walk of Abraham, you will see the methods and mistakes as he follows the plan of God. More importantly, you will discover that Abraham was an ordinary man who lived an extraordinary life of faith and dependence on God—for it is God who is the source of greatness in Abraham and in each of us!
