Who is the Holy Spirit? Is there evidence that He is truly working in the believer's heart? What does the Bible say about the Holy Spirit?

Today, the fervor to know more about the Holy Spirit is perhaps greater than it has ever been. Numerous churches have as their main emphasis the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Many believers seek to know the Spirit's filling, both in their worship and in their personal walk with God.

Within the pages of this book, Abraham Kuyper provides you with a comprehensive look at the ministry and work of the Holy Spirit in order to understand more fully the purpose of the Spirit and how you can apply the Bible's teaching to your life. He reveals a profound, yet detailed look at the Holy Spirit's ministry to and through the believer. The Holy Spirit's ministry is evident in the words of B. B. Warfield: "Only a spiritually-minded church provides a soil in which a literature of the Spirit can grow." In other words, God's Spirit is your guide both for spiritual growth as well as your ministry in this world.

The book is divided into three important stages; a summary from the Scriptures, the Spirit's working in the Church, and His work in the individual believer's heart.

Called by many of Kuyper's day the most comprehensive study ever made on the Holy Spirit, this book will be a channel of blessing and encouragement to you as you seek to live for Christ.

About the Author:

Abraham Kuyper (1837-1920), renowned Dutch theologian and political leader, was educated in Dutch Reformed theology a the University of Leyden in the Netherlands. While pasturing a small church in Beesd from 1863-1868, he was challenged with orthodox Calvinism and later became a fervid proponent of that theology.

Kuyper's accomplishments include pasturing a church at Utrecht from 1868-1870, then the Free Church in Amsterdam from 1870-1874. He served as editor of the daily publication De Standaard for almost fifty years, and found the Free Reformed University in Amsterdam in 1880 and the Free Reformed Church in 1886. Kuyper was named the distinguished Stone Lecturer at Princeton University in the United States in 1898, and his lectures were published in a still-widely-read volume titled Calvinism.

An advocate of evangelical Christianity, Kuyper also believed in using the church's influence to promote 'a purer public national life.' He led nearly 100,000 people out of the established Reformed Church and joined with another separatist group in an effort to establish 'Christian democracy' in his nation. His goal was to give the 'common people' a voice in government, and his contributions led to suffrage rights for all citizens and the development of today's plural society in the Netherlands. Kuyper sought to apply principles of Calvinism in the political arenas in which he served. The leader of the Anti-Revolutionary Party, he was a member of the nation's States-General twice before serving as prime minister of the Netherlands from 1901-1905.

In addition to Calvinism and The Work of the Holy Spirit, Kuyper's noted works include The Encyclopedia of Theology and The Twelve Patriarchs.
