Fear. It is one small word, but it has an enormous impact. Nothing in today's society seems to drive people like this emotion. We make our decisions because of fear. We hide behind it. We are motivated by it. Sometimes, we even find comfort in it because it is all we know. But many of us discover that the road fear leads us down is a dead end, full of shallow promises, empty hopes and unrealized dreams. In the middle of our battles with fear, we find that our lives have been turned upside down and inside out without us even knowing. We find ourselves journeying to places we never intended to go or, even worse, not journeying at all.

Dismantled is written out of the authors' personal battles with this paralyzing emotion. The specific fears addressed here have at times been barriers to their walks with God. Like all of us, the authors have dealt with fear and felt its stinging reality. They have been trapped at times and at other times traveled to avoid facing fear head-on. But God in his mercy shows a different way. It is a road less traveled but a beautiful road indeed, one that leads directly to the shelter of the Almighty, where fear has no power over us. We can find that shelter in his love, acceptance and tenderness. Dismantled is an eight-week study that will help young adults (teens and those who are college age) begin to walk down the road of following God. The first lesson serves as an introduction to the study. Each of the next seven lessons centers on a Bible character that dealt with the issue of fear.
