Criticism: Friend or Foe is designed to lay the groundwork for correct criticism in Christian ministries. The book outlines how skilled criticism is the backbone of all healthy organizations. It is filled with helpful, encouraging ideas for erecting boundaries against injurious criticism within the church. Doug fills the book with dozens and dozens of stories of good and bad criticism.

The book also offers help for those who have suffered from harsh and destructive criticism. It offers steps in learning how to say no to unhealthy criticism. The reader will learn to know what criticism should be received and what criticism should be rejected.

The aim of the book is to help the reader realize that criticism can be a friend. Valuable biblical tools are included to deal with situations that require direct disagreement. The reader will learn skills at being able to judge one's own heart before judging others. The end result—the reader will learn to become a healthy critic.
