Stories of Faith and Courage From Cops on the Street is a groundbreaking devotional book that demonstrates the vital difference men and women of faith make in law enforcement.  As this is a date-specific daily devotional, stories that relate to a specific date or event (9/11/2001, major weather catastrophes, "line of duty" deaths, etc.) are strategically placed on or near  the date  the event occurred.  This Battlefields and Blessings devotional book serves two purposes:

â?¢It offers a glimpse in to what it's really like  to be in law enforcement while demonstrating the spiritual side of the law enforcement community â?¢It presents law enforcement in a positive light as a career path filled with men and women who care deeply for the communities they serve

Stories run the gamut from light-hearted (a rookie who passes out while helping deliver a baby) to not-for-the-faint-of-heart (a bank shooting and a fatal auto accident).  They represent every phase of law enforcement work and demonstrate that something happened relating to the incidents that simply cannot be explained away.

Some days you will weep as you identify with the authentic tragedy shared. At other times you'll laugh at situations that only other peace officers can truly identify with.  Each day you will learn how God can be our refuge and fortress on each and every call.

By sharing the assurance and peace that only comes from God. the writers pray that you, the reader, will be encouraged and know that he who is in  the world and seeks to destroy and kill is a defenseless enemy when God is on scene with you.

Great Inspiration

I've known Grant for quite a few years through my close association with the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers and was honored to write three stories for this book. My own poor work in comparison aside, this is an outstanding daily devotional book for every cop, those who love us and for anyone else who seeks to understand our God-ordained profession. Also a great gift for any true servant-warrior.

The Real Deal

As a retired police officer and a police chaplain, I know that this book is the real deal. So many real, and sometimes gripping, stories of Cops diong what they were sworn and committed to do in spite of personal feelings, the stress, and their own baggage as real, fallible human beings who walk a fine line between law and grace. I can't recommend Grant's book highly enough.

Ann Wingate's review

Stories of Faith and Courage from Cops on the Street , by Carmen Grant Wolf, attracted my attention immediately because I was a sworn officer for five years and an unsworn identification technician you’d say CSI now for two more years. It is published by AMG Publishers under their God & Country Press imprint, and contains 365 short anecdotes. In most of them, someone comes to Christ it may be the prisoner, or the victim, or the cop. The situations range from minor shoplifting to the disaster of 9/11, and the cops are not always street cops some are jailors, some are office workers. Some people seal their witness with their life’s blood others are able to bring many people to Christ over the course of their long or short careers.

If you are not a Christian and are not interested in becoming one, you probably will not want to read this book, though it might be good for you to do so. If you are a Christian, this is practically required reading. I was astonished to learn that there are numerous associations of Christian law enforcement officers, none of which I ever heard of, and if a cop’s house is destroying by fire or natural disaster, cops will come from all over the country to help rebuild. But more important are the lives that are permanently changed for the better, and the comfort given by Christians, at times the relatives of victims consoling the cop who must bring the word of a death in the family.

I found this a thoroughly engrossing book. I don’t know whether you will agree. I’m not giving it a five because I would prefer to have the stories a little longer and more fleshed out, but they are the length they are because they are intended to take a very short time to read. A few times the story is carried over through two or three chapters., but even so I am often left with questions.

I would recommend this book to anybody who can be persuaded to read a religious book, and I would particularly recommend it to people who thinks all cops are crooks and/or bullies, many of whom I have encountered when following the thread of a news story. Read this and find out what many cops are like.

It is said that ex-cops either get religion, get drunk, or get dead. I chose to get religion. I’m glad I did. The cops in this book didn’t wait until they became ex-cops. I knew some cops like that.
