The Rest of Your Life

On the day I became a Christian, a man explained to me there has to be a point in your life when you make a decision about Jesus Christ. He is obviously one of the most important figures in history; any person should have an opinion about who and what he was. A little study will reveal he declared himself to be the Son of God, sent into the world to save mankind. There are many other facts that can be learned about him through more intensive study. But you can’t go on studying and weighing the pros and cons about this person forever. At some point, you have to decide either he was who he said he was, or he was the biggest hoax in history. We also have to realize that ignoring the question or not deciding is a decision.

So, if there is a decision we each must make, what is that “point” where we have to make it? How long do we have? I believe the airborne instructor had it right: “Son, you have the rest of your life.” Do you know if the rest of your life will be measured in years, or in hours? You wouldn’t wait to pull your reserve chute, and you shouldn’t wait to make the most important decision of your life.
