HOW TO MAKE YOUR WALLS FALL

You have a choice!

EVER FELT as if your life hit a brick wall, seemingly going nowhere, and making you feel as if everything is against you?

First responders face trauma and hurting victims. They work long shifts away from family, and are clueless about what the next alarm has in store. Sometimes that brick wall seems impenetrable.

No doubt, the Israelites felt that same way when needing to conquer Jericho, the oldest city in the world, surrounded by a system of two massive stone walls. To top it off, between the walls was a guarded fifteen-foot walkway presenting a seemingly insurmountable obstacle.

The walls first responders face may come as a lost victim, sadness over the loss of a victim’s home, decisions poorly made, family trouble, financial trouble, or maybe a besetting sin that constantly crops up.

You can look upon your obstacles as a dead end, or you can realize they are opportunities for the Lord to work in your life—a chance to grow and allow God’s power to be revealed in and through you when you’re unable to handle things on your own. You have a choice!

God is more clearly visible when you’re totally out of the picture. That’s what he did with Israel in Jericho. He completely removed them from the equation! The victory at Jericho was all God’s!

God is always in control, even when it doesn’t seem like it. God promised Israel the victory before they attacked Jericho. As you face obstacles, you can do so with similar confidence because you have his promises as banners to march under. Your weapons are loaded with God’s power (2 Corinthians 10:4, 5). Whatever you face, God determined it for your good and his glory! (Romans 8:28). Your ability in Jesus is limited only by your own faith (Philippians 4:13). As you face your Jericho, you can do it in his strength (Ephesians 6:10), and you can trust him for victory (Romans 4:21).

“Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!” (Joshua 6:16)

Whatever the obstacles, you don’t have to face them alone or in your own strength! Israel experienced victory at Jericho because they believed, acted in faith, and did it God’s way. You, too, have a choice—your way or his way.

Prayer:

Thank you for your promise of victory and that I can bring all things to you, the One who excels in doing the undoable! Help me tear down those walls in my spiritual life and to continue steadfastly in my walk with you.
